Bridge Artist
Ricleite was very busy this contest, he also made time to enter 3 artistic bridges, each worth consideration for
the Bridge Artist title. His first impresses me the most. "Banana Split" is not only asthetically pleasing, but is technically
quite a feat in itself, as the bananas have been built, link by link, across all three dimensions. I'll post some enhanced images of the other
entries in the forums, it would be a shame not to show off the other entries.
Bridge Inventor
At the very least, Guilderoy has found another category to compete in: Most links broken in a working bridge. It looks like at
least 3/4 of the links break on this bridge, with 468 failing as the bridge settles, raising to 507 after the train has completed its run. The
bridge is a little like Corren's contest 11 bridge, but Guilderoy puts the danglies to good use - they cushion the deck as it settles to the ground. I think if the contest had the
"one material per anchor point" rule, a slightly modified version of this bridge would have won the dirty contest by quite a bit. I should also
mention Guilderoy's clean entry (also 4th, at $103831) which has very interesting asymmetric center supprts. ead and Ricleite's
clean bridges were also under consideration, but in the end I couldn't bear to give them any more medals this contest ;)
