CLEAN, 3rd place - Bridge Captain
The least cost for a CLEAN bridge posted on the
CBCDF
was 'below 26K'. Actually, there are 13 (!) submission below $ 26,000, another six below $ 27,000 and another seven below
$ 28,000. Therefore, even getting below the top 20 in this category was very hard. Six architects even managed to get
below $ 25,000. Zoltan (rank 6: $ 24,981), Space (rank 5: $ 24,915) and Unaimed (rank 4: $ 24,697) got very close to the
podium but not close enough to beat shenryyr. Those of you who run for records surely know his name; if
you wonder about the inconvenient name, read
this.
BTW, there's some good news on the records: The DarkWolfNine Unofficial
Pontifex Records Website will migrate into bbg.com in the coming weeks. But let's have a closer look at shenryyr's
bridge: He used three upper deck parts of more or less the same length, and found a way to get tension and stress
under control, by backing the middle part. At the same time the lower deck parts are integrated into the backing -
very clever, and well worth the title of Bridge Captain. Congrats, shenryyr!
On to ... Bridge Major!
